Forensic Investigation

Investigation into cause of failure of 20,000 SF of existing retrofitted Standing Seam Metal Roof. In addition to forensic analysis, Appian provided structural services for removal of the damaged roof, safe up of structure, and roof replacement plans and specifications.

The freezer at Adams Wholesale Foods, Rocky Mount, NC experienced from heave due to a shallow groundwater dondition. The slab had risen as much as 6 inches at the center of the slab. Appian's responsibility was to investigate and determine the cause of the heave, develop a design to both remediate the condition and prevent the recurrence; and oversee construction of the remediation plan. Repairs were made; the slab dropped to its pre-existing grade and has had no further problems with frost heave.
